Our diabetes clinic offers comprehensive management of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Successful management of this chronic condition will help to prevent complications and preserve quality of life.
Diabetes Care, Diet and Lifestyle education
We advise on all aspects of diabetes care, including diet and lifestyle education, the most up-to-date medication, screening for complications, wound care and referral to appropriate specialists as/when the patient’s condition dictates.
Many diabetic patients are unaware of the dangers of this chronic disease, should it not be properly controlled. Educating our diabetics to help prevent complications and/or control the progression of complications is our specialty.
Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions globally. By 2020 it is estimated that there will be 10 million diabetics worldwide. In fact for every 1 diabetic that is diagnosed, there is one that is undiagnosed. Considering that the number of diabetic patients outnumbers those suffering from HIV/AIDS by 6:1, the cost of diabetes to the economy is astronomical and the effect on the quality of life can be devastating.
Charlotte Meschede brings 37 years of experience in the field of nutrition into our practice.
